CSI in partnership with the Liberia Agency For Community Empowerment (LACE) implemented the Cash for Works Temporary Employment Project in two communities (Kolba City, Bolahun and its surrounding towns and villages in Kolahun District Lofa County. The Process resulted to the recruitment of 500 youth beneficiaries in the above-mentioned communities and each beneficiary received the amount of US $ 120 for the two months, meaning US $ 60 per month. The total amount paid for the period under reviewed is US$60,000.00 during the 2 months period March-April, 2009.
The management of the CSI in collaboration with the Project Management Committee (PMC) met with the district local authority including the city Council, the District Commissioner Morris Tamba to find an amicable solution quickly to control the drainage that could possibly undermine the quality of the constructed box culvert. The meeting was fruitful that is at the close of the meeting, the CSI team and the local authority headed by the District Commissioner visited the project site, assessed the drainage area and order the residence owner Mr. George Kimba to allow the drainage been diverted to his yard in order to maintain the good work that is been done and also to appreciate the opportunity provided the district for the smooth passages of citizens and guests that are visiting the civil administration ground.
The completed Box culvert project is locating the Kolahun Administration compound, the National Elections Commission Lower Lofa county Office, the Police Station, City Council Hall were all public gathering are been held, the Kolahun Magisterial court, the youth centre, the Lonestar MTN Tower, the Kolahun gust house. The box culvert is also locating the Pentecostal Mission School of faith that has an estimated population of 1300 students and instructors, the Liberia red cross guesthouse and finally the telecom community. The World Bank through the Liberia Agency For Community Empowerment (LACE) funded the project.
